Although kids were never meant to be completely understood, we hope to eliminate some of the confusion by at least narrowing the generation gap. While we don't have a secret potion or youth serum, we do have some very basic ideas that will help you to feel way more "hip".

For many of us, slang was limited to a few words. Cool, groovy, hip, far out, just to name a few. Other than that, we all understood each other. We could talk to our parents or grandparents without having to completely switch languages (unless grandpa was from "the old country"). "Kids these days" have hundreds if not thousands of words that fit all parts of speech and describe every imaginable situation. Now days, kids can complete a "sentence" without ever using a word you'd find in Webster's. So, what we've done is researched the most common slang used by our kids and compiled a dictionary if you will. The slang is listed in alphabetical order. Maybe one day, we can publish a English to slang version as well.

Another area of confusion results with social etiquette. When parents and grandparents were younger, things were so much more simple. We could wear pants that had the crotch in the right place without fear of becoming social outcasts. (On a personal note, I wish things would go back to the way it was when we were younger. I can only stand seeing someone's pants hanging down around their ankles for so long before I want to walk over an yank them up. But then, I suppose there isn't much good that can be said for bell bottoms either.) Anyway, here we will provide a list of do's and don'ts for your reference, regarding social etiquette.
