Games for emommieBabies

Peak-a-boo: This one needs little explaination.  It's an old favorite for almost everyone.  Our little dears love this one and they absolutely love the surprise of seeing their favorite thing (you!)

Pat-a-Cake: This is another old favorite but you would be surprised how many people don't know this one.  There are quite a few variations of the rhyme and hand movements but here is one version:

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake baker's man
Bake me a cake as fast as you can
Push it and pull it and mark it with a "B"
And put it in the oven for baby and me.

For hand movements, you can clap along to the rhyme or mimic the words with hand motions.   You can also make up your own variation and hand motions.  Whatever makes baby laugh.  We always use baby's belly as the oven and tickle tummies when we put in the cake.  Then at the end we spread their arms out and say "and it gets sooooo big"  It doesn't make much sense but it makes smiles. That is after all the goal right?

The Wheels on The Bus: Here are some ideas for hand motions for the Wheels on the Bus song.

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round
The wheels on the bus go round and round, all through the town (circle baby's arms)

The doors on the bus go open and shut, open and shut, open and shut
The doors on the bus go open and shut, all through the town (open & close arms)

The people on the bus bump up and down, up and down, up and down
The people on the bus bump up and down all through the town (bounce baby up and down)

The wipers on the bus go swish-swish-swish, swish-swish-swish, swish-swish-swish
The wipers on the bus go swish-swish-swish all through the town (move arms side to side)

The baby on the bus goes whaa-whaa-whaa, whaa-whaa-whaa, whaa-whaa-whaa
The baby on the bus goes whaa-whaa-whaa all through the town (cover eyes with baby's hands)

The sisters on the bus go shh-shh-shh, shh-shh-shh, shh-shh-shh
The sisters on the bus go shh-shh-shh all through the town (bring fingers to baby's mouth)

The mommies on the bus say I love you, I love you, I love you
The daddies on the bus say I love you too all through the town (give lots of hugs)

Variation: There are many other verses that go with this song.   Sing those too or make up your own.

This Is The Way The Ladies Ride: You might want to reserve this one for older babies who have better head control.  It can get a little rough.  This is basically a "horsey-ride" game.  Sit your little one on your lap or knee and while holding onto their hands bounce them in time with the song.  Start out very slowly (Ladies ride slowly) and sing the first verse slowly.  Sing the second verse a little faster while bouncing your baby a little faster.  Finally, with the third verse, bounce and sing really fast.
Older babies love this and they will go crazy with giggles.  Here are the three verses:

This is the way the ladies ride
Ladies ride, ladies ride
This is the way the ladies ride
So early in the morning

This is the way the gentlemen ride
gentlemen ride, gentlemen ride
This is the way the gentlemen ride
So early in the morning

This is the way the farmer rides
Farmer rides, farmer rides
This is the way the farmer rides
So early in the morning
