Games for emommieToddlers

Which is Heavier?:   This is a simple activity that can be played with everyday household objects.
You will  need a scale (a balance scale is best, but a bathroom scale will work too).   Pick out objects in your house that your toddler is familiar with.  Line them up and see if your toddler can pick out which will be the heaviest.  Try to show your little tot that size and shape don't influence weight.  For example, which is heavier, a container filled with powdered milk, or an identical one filled with sand?   Or how about different shapes, a pound of butter or margarine (in sticks) versus a pound of shortening?

Sock Toss: This easy game is perfect for laundry day.
Once you have finished sorting your socks, ball them up and grab your toddler for some fun.  Have your little one help you put away the socks by tossing them into her open drawer.  Stand your tot a short distance from her open dresser drawer and hand her some socks.  Cheer her on as she tosses them into the "goal".   Cleaning up can't get any easier that this.  Have fun!

Whose is this?: also know as "Cleaning Up", but that's just between you and me.
How many times do you want to sit down for a relaxing break after you've put your little ones to bed, only to find the house is a mess?  There are toys all over and you are left cleaning them up?  Well, here is a game that will help to make your evenings more enjoyable for you.  Before your little ones go to bed (or any time really), gather up the stuff that's laying around and put it in a basket on the floor.  Then play "Whose is this?"  Have your cutie try to figure out whose stuff is whose.  Grab an item from the basket and have your toddler guess it's owner, if he's right, he can run it to the room it belongs to.  You can set a timer and try to get all the stuff in the basket where it belongs before the buzzer rings.
